Chamonix valley
The peaks. When I moved to Chamonix in 2018, I was (and still am) primarily a designer. Initially, I wasn't particularly interested in landscapes in fine art. However, the overwhelming presence of the mountains—so close yet so distant—made it inevitable to be inspired by them. Their irregular, intense forms and the constant changes in light, colors, and visibility create a fascinating contrast to their seeming stability. While we hustle and bustle down in the valley, experiencing all types of changes, those peaks, those giants, seem to just stand there, silently observing. Yet, their consistency is also somewhat of an illusion. The effects of climate change are starkly visible in the valley. The glaciers are melting at an incredible speed, and the snow around the peaks is, in fact, very fragile.
