From the press release:
When, way back in 1957, the first Russian polar explorers set foot on the eternal ice of the Arctic, a watch from the First Moscow Watch Factory adorned their wrists. They were specially made for the expedition, taking into account the ultra-low temperatures and atmospheric pressure. The unique dial with a 24-hour scale reflected the specificity of the place - a polar night, when the time cannot be determined by the sun.
The same heritage features - a clear, easy-to-read dial, a solid steel case, a large and comfortable crown so you can wind the watch without removing your gloves, and a robust Russian-made movement - are reflected in the new Arctic series of navigators' watches.
The concept of the collection is vividly expressed in the vintage design of the 42 mm diameter case with ergonomically curved lugs. The main emphasis is on the spherical glass that smoothly continues the shape of the case and the massive conical crown.
The strict bold dial numbering accentuates the functionality, while the index typeface has been specially developed to match the design of the '50s model.
