I design watches, but when it comes to jewellery, the goal and the challenge is to make it as well with my hands, as I believe it is important for the designer to have a connection to materials, to know and feel them.
This made-to order piece is unique, but is a part of a jewellery project, in which the main feature is enamel.
Enamel loves domed forms, it reveals it tints and shine on it. So, to create the form, I hand cut the pebble-like matrice qnd poinçon.
The formed silver domes were cut for champlevé enamel and a stone. The next stages were enamelling, stone setting, hand engraving and final polishing. The reference of the design and the number of the piece were engraved on the back side. The work, not counting the matrix and the punch, took approximately 40 hours.

Ekaterina Fornell. The necklace. Silver, enamel, diamond 0,12 ct. Piece unique.
