The Lion of Suzdal

The legendary "golden" gates of Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos, Suzdal, inspired me to make this artwork, with the Lion, guarding the gates. The lion made in 13th century has an anthropomorphic face typical for that period of Russian applied art, which makes it recognisable and gives additional sences to the artwork.
